In every neighbourhood, city and country around the world, people are standing together to fight the pandemic and share daily acts of kindness, courage and solidarity.
But the virus keeps moving fast and the pandemic will inevitably wreak its worst on the people, communities and countries that are least able to withstand the shock. A global pandemic demands a global response because no country or community will be safe until all of us are safe.
Together, let’s stand with the most vulnerable whether they live across the street or across the ocean. Join us in urging world leaders to join a Global Pandemic Response Plan to defeat COVID-19 everywhere. We know what it will take to win this fight: we need global resources to fund a strong humanitarian response in the poorest countries and the development of new medicines and vaccines available to all, so that no one is left behind.
We also need emergency measures to help the most vulnerable countries respond to the impact of the pandemic, strengthen their economies and their health systems. And governments will have to cooperate like never before to ensure we’re all prepared for the next crisis. Viruses like COVID-19 don’t pay attention to borders, neither should solidarity
The chains of covid 19 has tied us up but we shall overcome it together. The world is only as strong as our weakest health system.⠀ “I am calling for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world,” said #UnitedNations Secretary-General @antonioguterres on Monday. “That is what our human family needs, now more than ever.” @unitednations
